Description ~ Roosimine 101
An ancient Estonian technique sometimes referred to as “Estonian inlay,” this embroidery-like technique is a very distant cousin of intarsia knitting worked by making floats on the right side of the work. Add another colorwork technique to your arsenal as we work up a retreat-debuting hat pattern!
Materials Needed ~ Roosimine 101
- 3 Highly contrasting shades of DK weight yarn (175 yds of MC, 50 yds of CC1, and CC2 – minis work well)
- Size US 6 (4mm) 16” circular knitting needles
- Size US 7 (4.5mm) 16” circular knitting needles
- Size US 7 (4.5mm) DPNs
- Stitch Markers
- Sticky Notes
- Tapestry Needle
- Copy of pattern will be supplied in class
Homework ~ Roosimine 101
With MC and smaller circular needle, CO 100 sts using Longtail CO method. Join into round being careful not to twist sts. Pm for bor. Work [k1tbl, p1] for 10 rounds. Switch to larger needle and [k10, M1L] across round – 110 sts. Knit 3 rounds.
